History

Del Monte Electric was founded in 1938 in Pacific Grove, California as a subsidiary of Stolte Construction. The company was originally located on Del Monte Cannery property and performed work exclusively for the cannery.

Foster Daoust took over management of Del Monte Electric in 1944 and moved the company to the Bay Area. To keep up with construction demand in Contra Costa County, Foster opened a branch office in Walnut Creek in 1968. Robert Daoust purchased the company from his father in 1983. Robert concentrated on work in Alameda and Contra Costa Counties and assembled a team of highly qualified electricians and office staff that could take on any project in the Bay Area.

John Hunter purchased Del Monte Electric in 2000 and moved the company from its Hayward and Concord offices into its current 16,000 square foot building in Dublin. This building was purchased and modernized to provide a permanent and central location to operate with sufficient size and flexibility for future growth.

Scott Mullins purchased a minority share of Del Monte Electric in 2014, at which time he began to oversee the day to day operation of the company. In 2019, Scott purchased the majority share of Del Monte Electric and continues to oversee all operations. Scott has assembled a highly collaborative staff that understands the evolving construction industry in the Bay Area and is motivated to tackle any challenge that comes their way.

Today

Del Monte Electric has completed thousands of projects and has come to specialize in health care projects, educational facilities, design/build projects, health and fitness clubs, office buildings, solar installations, and research labs.

We employ approximately fifteen salaried office employees in our Dublin office and peak at approximately 200 electricians in the field. Our site foremen and project management teams are responsible for completing each project in a first-class manner to the satisfaction of the client.

The company has an experienced, motivated, and knowledgeable group of foremen, some of which have been with the company over 20 years. Our foremen have over four hundred years of combined experience in the electrical industry. All of our foremen have completed rigorous IBEW training and are required to continue their education by attending IBEW and NECA sponsored classes on topics such as motor control, fire alarm wiring, jobsite safety, alternative energy solutions, energy management wiring, etc. All of our electricians are state certified.

Our teams have embraced new technologies and best practices to increase our productivity, thus resulting in project cost savings and reduced schedule durations. Our crews utilize our newly expanded pre-fabrication shop in order to perform repetitive tasks more efficiently in a controlled environment. We utilize PlanGrid software to track and organize electronic construction documents. We have incorporated the use of Building Information Modeling (BIM) and Total Station Layout for installing our work more accurately and in less time. These are just a few examples of how we are constantly looking for ways to improve our methods so that we can exceed our client’s expectations and deliver every job on time and under budget.

Goal

Our goal is to build long-term relationships and partnerships with quality general contractors and owners that generate repeat business. In order for this to happen, we must always be a collaborative team member bringing our knowledge, experience, integrity, and ingenuity to every project we complete.

We understand that our client’s goal is to assemble a construction team that can build a quality job on schedule and within budget. It is our mission to work tirelessly to achieve your goal so that in turn, we can accomplish ours.
